TiltWatch XTR, a single-use tilt indicator, is intended to keep an eye on shipments that must be kept upright. For the majority of users, Tiltwatch XTR is the first impression of a tilt indicator, which cannot be tipped or reset absent clear proof of improper handling once applied. However, Leaning Label has become more and more popular in the world’s market.
“Will there be a problem if I replace Tiltwatch XTR with Leaning Label?” users are always concerned about this.
In the shipping indicator market, there are many many brands, and people often have a question: How should I choose a brand? Just like the question you have when you choose a TV at home: should I choose a brand with a well-known brand? Or a product with high cost-effectiveness? Therefore, This gave me the idea of ”comparison indicators”.
With more than 20 years of experience in the shipping indicator and packaging industry, I can compare some points that most customers care about and provide insightful and practical suggestions. The current stage planning starts with impact indicators and tilt indicators. Since there are fewer manufacturers of this type of product compared to others, it is a good starting point. As the two largest manufacturers of impact indicators, I have to start with the comparison between ShockWatch TiltWatch XTR and Leaning Label tilt indicator.
What is ShockWatch TiltWatch XTR Indicator?
The Tiltwatch XTR label is a one-time tip and tilt indicator that keeps an eye on items and alerts users when they tilt too far during shipping and have to be kept upright. While ShockWatch is a sibling product to TiltWatch XTR and TiltWatch PLUS, they are two different products. Whether a shipment has been rolled over, flipped on its side, or tilted at an angle higher than predefined, you may easily check it for damage from excessive tilting.
In actuality, the brand is called “TiltWatch XTR.” For this kind of device, we refer to it as a “tilt indicator” or “tip and tell indicator.” There are many different kinds and brand names available. Tilt indicator is commonly referred to as Tiltwatch in some countries, much way Google is called a “search engine.”
There are some parallels and some divergences in the responses. To briefly understand the distinction between the two labels, refer to the table below.

#1 Producer: SpotSee & WAN-YO
ShockWatch TiltWatch XTR Indicator (Shockwatch Inc., now Spotsee’s product)
TiltWatch XTR is a sister product of the ShockWatch brand, produced in the United States by Shockwatch Inc. (formerly Spotsee), a company based in Dallas, Texas, that specializes in supply chain solutions. When you search for “shockwatch.com” on Google, “spotsee.io” will up instead.
Before 2017, Texas, USA, served as the primary location for Shockwatch TiltWatch XTR’ manufacture. Later, China and Mexico became the primary locations for Shockwatch label manufacture.
Leaning Label & II (WAN-YO’s product)
WAN-YO founded the business in 2009 after realizing that the shipping monitoring gadget market was essentially monopolized. The Impact Label brand was first produced in large quantities in 2013. Wan-Yo has expanded to become Asia’s biggest manufacturer of transit monitoring systems.
#2 Appearance & Functions
TiltWatch and Leaning Label have the same indication of tipping and texts, and use an upright arrow & a ‘warning color’ to alert handlers tilt indicator is in place. The material of the middle tilt indication of Tiltwatch was silver as same as Leaning Label before, but the current version has changed to green. For a while, the green version had magnetic problems causing tampering, however, Spotsee seems to have improved it afterward.
A large difference between Leaning Label II and others is the indication of tilt direction. A part of special equipment or machine requires a specific directional fragile, Leaning Label II will be the first choice, compared with previous products and TiltWatch Plus.
#3 Quality & Sensitivity
For the majority of customers, the main area of concern is the functional difference between the Leaning Label (made in Taiwan) and the TiltWatch (made in the United States/Mexico/China by Spotsee). Users are concerned about accuracy when it comes to monitoring their expensive devices in case of breakdown.
For Tiltwatch and Leaning Label, there’s no difference. Both indicators are triggered at the same angle, 80 degrees.
How does TiltWatch work?
The sensor is automatically armed when you peel the adhesive backing from TiltWatch. When a cargo is tilted more than 80º or entirely upended, the sensor turns red. Not just TiltWatch, but also Leaning Label. The sensors are all armed in the same way. The gravity sensor rolls along the slope until it falls off. The color difference between the gravity device and the background causes the middle window to change from silver to red.
For Tiltwatch and Leaning Label II, there’s no difference. They work the same just like the former one, but magnetic TiltWatch XTR may cause a risk of tampering.
Leaning Label and Tiltwatch XTR are identical in terms of features, certifications, and reliability testing. Tilt testing for the Tiltwatch XTR and Leaning Label indicates that excessive tilting is consistent and won’t be triggered under typical handling circumstances like takeoff angles.
Both indication window of Leaning Label and TiltWatch looks different, but the windows become RED after activation. Plus. Leaning Label II can indicate left or right is tilted the first time.
Consequently, you may feel completely at ease if you have concerns to swap between!

How to reset TiltWatch XTR?
You should not reset Tiltwatch or Leaning Label. This action constitutes tampering. Previously, the sensor was constructed of metal. Some folks would use a magnet to connect the sensor before returning to the window along the track. The sensor for the current revision is green. We’re not sure if it’s composed of metal. However, the YT video above demonstrates how to reset the Tiltwatch indicator, however, the Leaning Label cannot be reset with a magnet.
#4 Accessories & Cost
Leaning Label & TiltWatch Accessories
Similar to ShockWatch VS Impact Label, the colors and shapes of the 2 brands of tilt indicator are the same, and partial warning texts are alike, only for the “WARNING” on the Leaning Label.
WAN-YO’s contact info is not available on the labels, perhaps protecting their local distributors from the direct source.
TiltWatch and Leaning Label have an independent serial barcode number which is tamperproof for replacement. For Leaning Label series, WAN-YO’s goods tracking system provides tracking of each item.

Companion Label | ||
Cost (retail price) | US $1.2-3/US $2-3.5 | US $1.4-3.5 |
Leaning Label & TiltWatch Price
Most buyers consider “functionality” and “reasonable price” for decisions. Brand awareness symbolizes buyers’ comprehension of a firm, while related certifications signify the organization’s product value. Both are indispensable. The TiltWatch XTR price ranges from US $1.4 to $3 while the cost of Leaning Label series falls between US 1.2 and 3.5.
Spotsee online shop is out in 2024. It’s only for the US and Canada areas, but this action truly makes their distributor and partner unhappy with this.
#5 Service
Not like impact indicators, label selection is simple for tilt indicators. Make sure at which degree your shipment cannot be accepted, then distinguish if 80 degrees is applicable.
Custom Tilt Indicator Tilt Label
Some companies want tilt labels with their logo, which TiltWatch and Leaning Label can do. The only distinction is between “co-branding” and “full custom”. TiltWatch can only accept ‘co-branding’, which means your brand name must be aligned with TiltWatch on the indication. There is no such limitation for bespoke tilt labels on Leaning Labels.
